Faversham Town manager Tommy Warrilow reacts to 3-3 Isthmian South East draw against Sittingbourne

Boss Tommy Warrilow felt a point was the least Faversham deserved from their top-six Isthmian South East derby against Sittingbourne on Saturday.

Trailing 3-0, the Lilywhites came roaring back as they netted three times in the final 10 minutes, including an injury-time equaliser, as it ended 3-3 in front of an 848-strong attendance at Salters Lane.

Faversham were the better team in the first half but were made to rue their wastefulness in front of goal and were 2-0 behind at half-time.

After the break, veteran striker Derek Asamoah converted a penalty he had won himself for an adjudged foul by captain Ben Gorham to seemingly clinch the points for Reece Prestedge’s sixth-placed Brickies, only for Warrilow’s fourth-placed team to produce a fine turnaround.

Warrilow said: “We were the better team and I’m disappointed we haven’t picked up three points. We should have been in front before they even scored, I think we could have been 2-0 or 3-0 in front, but we have gone 2-0 down.

“I don’t think we got a lot off the ref (Nick Dunn). I’m going to mention it because I think there is a push on Tariq Ossai, prior to the second goal and no one is appealing for the penalty.

“Then, there’s five minutes of added time. We have both done four substitutes each, so there’s eight substitutions, and I just give up with that.

“I’m disappointed that we haven’t come away with all three points - but I’m not disappointed with the performance. I thought we gave everything.

“We did some nice stuff and we did some ugly stuff, everyone has contributed, and that’s the least we deserved.”

Many in the ground were questioning how Town found themselves 2-0 down to goals from defenders Jack Steventon and Bagasan
