East Kilbride's new signing says he will "bring a lot of goals" as he eyes debut in Linlithgow Rose clash

New signing Scott Ferguson says he will bring goals to supercharge East Kilbride’s Lowland League title tilt.

The former Clyde attacker has linked up with Kilby boss Mick Kennedy for the third time in his career, after playing under him at previous clubs Colville Park and Darvel.

Ferguson was part of the Darvel side that stunned Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup last season and he is keen to create more memories with East Kilbride by leading them into the SPFL.

The club’s 24th signing so far this season, Ferguson arrives on a permanent deal to ease some of the injury woes that have hit Kennedy’s squad in recent weeks.

And having been Darvel’s top scorer last season with 21 goals, he has told fans he can add to EK’s arsenal at the top of the Lowland League.

The 28-year-old said: “I think I will bring a lot of goals. I’ve always scored goals playing under Mick.

“I was the top goalscorer for Darvel last season.

“He talks about the amount of chances EK create and I have seen some of the scorelines they’ve had this season - 6-1, 8-0, 9-0 - but I think I can help them add more goals. I love a wee goal.

“I was in and out of the team last season, to be fair, so 21 is good going. I didn’t start the first eight games of the season either.

“I know how Mick likes to play football and I know he is a winner, like myself, so I couldn’t say no.

“I have been checking up on the team because Mick is a pal and I saw they were struggling a bit with injuries, sometimes only three or four players on the bench, so I’m pleased the opportunity has come around.

“I really wanted to join him at the start of this season but I still had a year on my contract at Darvel and things didn’t work out. But when the chance came around again, I jumped at it.
