WATCH: Caledonia Gladiators stun Anwil Wloclawek in Europe Cup as defending champions defeated in East Kilbride

Caledonia Gladiators defeated the reigning FIBA Europe Cup winners last night in "one of the most significant wins" in the Scottish pro-basketball club’s history.

The men’s side defeated Polish team Anwil Wloclawek, who are the current holders of the trophy, 66-63 in the FIBA Europe Cup on Wednesday evening.

The victory at the club’s new home at Playsport in East Kilbride, which was their first -ever match in the competition at the venue, leaves them undefeated in Group B with two wins out of two.

Star performers on the night included centre Clifton Moore Jnr, who scored 16 points during the victory.

The win comes after they last week defeated BC CSU Sibiu in Romania 80-68 to open their campaign in style.

The Gladiators welcomed a large Polish support to Wednesday’s match – one of the biggest travelling crowds the club had ever welcomed - and the victory comes ahead of the side’s women’s team taking on Belgian side Basket Namur Capitale in the EuroCup Women at Playsport at 7.30pm tonight.

Tony McDaid, the club’s chief executive, added: “It was a special atmosphere last night with our home fans joined by such a healthy away support at the match.
