East Kilbride rode luck in Linlithgow Rose result, says boss as he hails winner from debutant Scott Ferguson

East Kilbride boss Mick Kennedy admits his side rode their luck in their victory over Linlithgow Rose last night, as he praised Scott Ferguson for bagging a debut winner.

The Lowland League leaders trailed 1-0 at the break, but watched goalkeeper Chris Truesdale save a penalty and saw Rose have a perfectly good goal chalked off for offside.

After the break, a stunning finish from Nathan Flanagan - a carbon copy of last week's strike in the cup against Hamilton Accies - and a 75th minute winner from substitute Ferguson made it 12 games unbeaten.

Kennedy said: "I'll be honest, we rode our luck a bit

"In the first half, Linlithgow missed a penalty at 1-0 and got a second goal chopped off that looks like it was onside, looking back at it.

"So we've rode our luck, even though we had about 67 per cent possession over the piece.

"Chris has strapped up his ankle and tried to get on with it. He is playing through injury and did well at the penalty, albeit it wasn't a great penalty.

"What is starting to happen now is, because we are very possession-based and teams who have tried to come after us have been cut open, teams are coming here more organised and trying to catch us on the break.

"Sometimes we get caught in a false sense of security because we have so much of the ball and there's no pressure being put on it to close you down.

"We just had to adjust a couple of things, spark some energy into the team, and that's what we did. We were far better in the second half."

Kennedy brought in Ferguson from Darvel earlier in the month and he netted inside the box to get off to a flier at K-Park, living up to his promise to "bring goals" to the team.
