Dumbarton 4-4 Clyde - Sons held after injury time Bully Wee brace

Clyde scored twice in injury time to grab a point against Dumbarton - as boss Stevie Farrell was left rueing Sons’ lack of composure in stoppage time.

A topsy-turvy game in horrendous conditions saw four goals in each half.

Tony Wallace’s penalty was levelled by Connor Young’s strike, before Finlay Gray’s deflected cross put Sons ahead again - only to be cancelled out immediately by a Martin Rennie spot kick.

With the wind at their backs Sons looked to have the game won courtesy of goals from Ryan Wallace and Aron Lynas.

But the Bully Wee weren’t to be denied; with injury time strikes from substitutes Kian Leslie and Logan Dunnachie leaving Sons shellshocked.

Gutted boss Farrell said: “It’s a sore one. Credit to Clyde, they didn’t give it up.

“But at 4-2 with four minutes to go we’ve got to see it out.

“Collectively we’ve all got to take responsibility.

“I thought the players were excellent in the second-half. We tried to play in horrendous conditions.

“We had to make sure we defended properly to see the game out. And we didn’t.

“In the last four minutes we needed calm minds. It’s alright running all over the pitch and up for it.

“But in situations like that we needed cool heads. And we didn’t have that for those final four minutes of the game.

“It’s all about concentration. That’s what let us down.”

Sons were forced into a change from the side that had won 4-2 at Forfar a week earlier, as injury ruled out Carlo Pignatiello - and Ryan Blair took his place.

Despite playing into the wind in the first-half, it was Sons who found the early breakthrough.

Kalvin Orsi’s cross was judged to have hit Ji Stevenson's hand in the penalty area, with Tony Wallace calmly stroking home from 12 yards.

Clyde should’ve levelled instantly
