Manchester United's next signing is obvious after £350,000-a-week decision

Manchester United cannot be fussy in the transfer market this month given their stance on how much they are willing to spend.

Club chiefs have indicated that they do not anticipate a busy window in regards to arrivals amid Financial Fair Play concerns. United have splashed more than £400m during Erik ten Hag’s reign with little coming in from sales.

Last year, Ten Hag was forced to lean into the loan market and he may have to again this time. Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting has been linked with the striker starting just four Bundesliga matches this season. The Bayern Munich striker offers Premier League experience having featured for Stoke City during the 2017/18 season.

However, at 34 he would not be an inspiring loan acquisition for United fans. United have struggled to score enough goals this season with striker’s Anthony Martial and Rasmus Hojlund netting a combined two Premier League strikes so far. That is why the in-form Serhou Guirassy is an appealing prospect for supporters, who have been linked with interest.

The Stuttgart attacker, who has scored 19 goals in 16 matches, is rumoured to have a £15m release clause and so is naturally generating a lot of interest. That said, his club are unlikely to sanction a mid-season exit with the club third in the table and pushing for Champions League qualification.

Given his supposed low release clause, Stuttgart may wish to ignite a bidding war for a higher price, which would be more likely to happen in the summer. United will have greater funds by then and be able to compete better.

If support for Hojlund can be acquired
