Dominic Iorfa makes Premier League ambition as he discusses his Sheffield Wednesday position

Sheffield Wednesday defender Dominic Iorfa has insisted that he is happy at the club, and wants to play with them in the Premier League.

Iorfa joined Wednesday from Wolves back in January 2019, and has since gone on to make 88 appearances in all competitions for the Owls, scoring five goals.

The defender is now back in action after what has been a frustrating spell with injury, and it seems he is enjoying life at Hillsborough.

Having signed a new deal with the club in the summer that secures his future with the Owls until the end of next season, Iorfa, when discussing his situation with the club, told The Sheffield Star: “I’ll be honest, I just want to play football. I’m just happy I’m back after the 18 months I’ve had, I’m tied down here, I want to play football and I’m happy here.

“That’s all I’m focused on, just staying fit and playing as many games as I can. I haven’t even thought of anything else. I’ve only just come back now.

“It’s all about trying to get back into the team, cementing my place and going from there.”

Prior to his move to Wednesday, Iorfa had been unable to get the chance to prove himself in the Premier League with Wolves, something he is seemingly now keen to do with his current club.

Discussing the prospect of playing in English football’s top-flight at some point in his career, the 26-year-old added: “I think any player needs ambition really and of course I want to play at the highest level.

“Hopefully it’s with us, hopefully it’s with Sheffield Wednesday, but that’s my long-term goal. Ever since I’ve started playing football I’ve wanted to play in the top flight and that will never change.

“I have to focus on performing week-in, week-out and everything around that will take care of itself.”
