John Terry’s three-word message to Nottingham Forest star after Liverpool performance

Former Premier League defender John Terry has praised Nottingham Forest’s Joe Worrall for his performance against Liverpool.

The centre-back played the full 90 minutes of the weekend’s FA Cup quarter-final at the City Ground, playing a big part in keeping Jurgen Klopp’s men quiet until the 78th minute. Diogo Jota’s second half strike proved to be enough to see Liverpool scrape past Forest to make it to the semi-final of the competition.

Worrall was named as ITV’s Man of the Match for the game, despite being on the losing side with his performance catching the eye of co-commentator Ally McCoist. Following the game, Worrall took to social media to give his reaction to the match and performance.

“Hope the fans enjoyed the cup run, we sure did,” he wrote on Instagram. “The atmosphere at the City Ground was the best i’ve ever witnessed last night. We hope to recreate more of those in the future.”

The message prompted a lot of responses from Forest fans, as well as current and former teammates. In among the replies was also a response from former Chelsea and England centre-back John Terry who wrote: “Well Played mate,” along with a clapping and football emoji.

Terry played a total of 757 club games in a career lasting 18 years. Six of those appearances came in a two-month loan spell with Forest back in 2000.

Worrall has played a big part in Steve Cooper ’s turnaround at the City Ground as Forest now eye promotion back to the Premier League. The Reds are back in action after the international break as they take on Blackpool at Bloomfield Road next weekend.
