Details emerge on Jay Slater's tragic death in Tenerife nature reserve

The search for missing teenager Jay Slater ended in heartbreak for his family when police found his 'lifeless body'.

For four weeks, Spanish authorities scoured the harsh landscape of Parque Rural de Teno nature reserve in Tenerife, near where the 19 year-old's phone last signalled. Efforts are now focused on determining the exact cause of his death, with a preliminary autopsy suggesting he succumbed to injuries sustain during a 'severe fall', reports the Mirror.

Mountain rescue teams, battling scorching temperatures, scoured dense vegetation and steep ravines until, on Monday, July 15, Spanish authorities confirmed the discovery of a young man's body in a ravine near a phone mast, alongside Jay's belongings. The body was in an advanced state of decomposition, but fingerprints confirmed it to be that of Jay Slater.
