‘So sorry we never found you': All the tributes left by Jay Slater's family at ravine where teen tragically died

A dirt track in the middle of a vast mountainous landscape in the north of Tenerife is now home to an array of heart wrenching tributes left for Jay Slater by his devastated family.

Bouquets of blue and white flowers, handwritten messages, and an England teddy bear are among the touching tributes that have been placed a stone's throw from the remote ravine where the 19-year–old’s body was found on Monday (July 15).

The track is 22 miles from the town Jay, from Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, had been trying to reach when he left an AirBnB near the village of Masca on the morning of June 17.

The teenager had posted a Snapchat video of himself at the Casa Abuela Tina AirBnB shortly before making his last phone call to his pal Lucy Law.

He said he was walking back to their accommodation but that he was in the middle of nowhere and was trying to get home with no water and 1 per cent on his phone battery. He sent his phone location from the mountains and this was the last anyone heard from him.

Yesterday, Jay's parents left emotional tributes on the dirt track in the Rural de Teno Park near the treacherous ravine where rescue workers were forced to hack away at undergrowth with machetes to reach their beloved son after searching for him for four weeks. 

A handwritten note from Jay’s  heartbroken mum Debbie Duncan has been attached with a blue peg to one of the bouquets. The emotional message says: "To my beautiful boy, I am so sorry we never found you.

"I miss you so much. You will be forever young and forever missed. Mum xxx".
