Derek McInnes reveals Kilmarnock insider set to switch allegiances just to get a glimpse of Euro rivals Cercle Brugge

Derek McInnes has revealed a member of his Kilmarnock analyst team is set to go undercover as a Feyenoord fan to get a glimpse of Euro rivals Cercle Brugge.

The Killie boss has already poured over hours of video footage of the Belgian Pro League side from last season. But he wants eyes on Miron Muslic’s current squad with just 12 days to go before they clash at Rugby Park in the Europa Conference League second qualifying round. Brugge play Dutch giants Feyenoord in a friendly at the Rotterdam club’s training ground next Saturday. But only home supporters are allowed access.

And while McInnes wasn’t revealing their identity, he said: "We've got a staff member going out to watch them at Feyenoord's training ground. You actually had to register as a fan to get access to the game! So we did that pretty quickly. We've watched all the games from the back end of last season.

“Everyone in Belgium plays with a back four apart from one team St Gilloise. So as a staff we've got a good handle on what was the team that qualified - but four or five of them won't be there as they had four loan players. We'll get a written report and eyes on them in the game against Feyenoord but we're quite familiar with the type of team they are.”

Killie are heading back into Europe for the first time in five years and McInnes knows his players face a big task just to get over the first hurdle. Cercle Brugge signed Brazilian midfielder Bruninho from Red Bull Bragantino this week - a player who scored nine goals in 57 appearances in Brazilian Serie A.

But in Togo international Kevin Denkey they had Belgium’s hottest striker last season with the 23-year-old smashing in 28 goals for club and country. McInnes expects a British-style threat from the side
