Premier Sports Cup draw LIVE as top flights Euro big guns go into the hat

The Scottish Premiership may be yet to get under way but we're already entering the business end of the first major trophy on offer in Scotland as the Premier Sports Cup last 16 draw is upon us.

With the top flight's European representatives being given a bye to this stage, and missing all the fun of the group stages, there's sure to be some intriguing ties pulled out of the hat after today's Fir Park final space shootout between Motherwell and Partick Thistle.

Brendan Rodgers' Celtic side suffered a blow at this stage last season as their Treble hopes were dashed by Derek McInnes' inspired Kilmarnock side at Rugby Park, and the Parkhead supremo will be hoping for better this time around.

For Rangers, Philippe Clement tasted success in this competition in the Final at Hampden in December, where James Tavernier's late strike was enough to defeat a stubborn Aberdeen side and both halves of Glasgow's Big Two will be kept apart at this stage given their seeded status.

Jimmy Thelin's Dons have looked ruthless in their Group Stage outings so far, scoring 15 goals and conceding just one, and they can now look forward to the draw, alongside the likes of Hibs - who suffered a shock 1-0 reverse to Kelty Hearts but won their other three matches to progress. David Gray's men could face local Edinburgh rivals Hearts, having been left in the unseeded side of the draw alongside lower-league hopefuls Falkirk, Spartans, Queen's Park and Airdrieonians.
