Derek Adams rant has Craig Levein laughing as St Johnstone boss shares how to really improve Scottish football

Derek Adams may have regrets over his Ross County rant, but Craig Levein once again showed he's all about the laughs as the St Johnstone boss admitted he found the Staggies gaffer's scathing comments funny.

Adams ripped into the standard of Scottish football after Dundee hit a 96th minute in Dingwall at the weekend to snatch all three points. The recently returned Staggies manager insisted his former Morecambe team was "100 times better" than the Highland outfit, despite having the smallest budget in English League two.

A number of Premiership bosses have hit out at Adams for his less than complimentary assessment. But Levein saw the funny side and admitted he's come out with enough nonsense in the heat of the moment after games that he didn't really mean. "I've been there," said Levein, whose side face Rangers at Ibrox on Wednesday. "I've been upset after games and said things I have probably regretted.

"I'm not going to sit here and criticise other managers for what they say. I have said enough nonsense in my life to fill two books. I don't know if he will regret it but.... I shouldn't laugh, but I thought it was funny."

As for how he rated the game north of the border, Levein said: "How do you gauge whether it's in good health? That's what I find difficult. Is the game in good health financially? Probably not. I think the TV deals we have got are terrible.

"We are sitting next to the biggest football nation in the world and they get hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of millions and we get a fraction of that. Maybe if we got a fraction more of that we would be able to improve things.
