Rising St Johnstone star Fran Franczak named in the SPFL Team of the Week

Rising St Johnstone star Fran Franczak has been named in the SPFL Team of the Week.

The youth academy graduate, just 16 years of age, was handed his first start by manager Craig Levein in Saturday’s home game against Hibernian.

Franczak, who lives in Aberfeldy, wasted little time in showing off his capabilities in senior football and impressed across the 84 minutes he was on the park.

He was deployed at right wing-back and, coupled with an assured defensive performance, also threatened in an attacking sense.

Franczak proved he has a wicked delivery on him and almost got on the scoresheet in the second half with a header. Goalkeeper David Marshall tipped the ball away from the net.

At full-time, Franczak was mobbed by his team-mates who ensured he received a standing ovation from delighted Perth fans.

He could well be in line for more minutes against Rangers on Wednesday night.
