David Prutton issues score prediction ahead of Birmingham City vs Hull City

Looking to secure back-to-back victories in the league for the first time since the turn of the year, 18th placed Birmingham City host Hull City tomorrow afternoon.

Despite their low position in the Championship standings, the Blues are 16 points better off than Derby County in 22nd place.

The Tigers sit two places below the Blues, however, there does not appear to be a real threat of relegation this season.

Shota Arveladze’s side are 13 points above the Rams and are seemingly using the concluding stages of this campaign to best prepare themselves for next season.

Hull ran out as 2-0 winners in the reverse fixture in mid-November, with goals from George Honeyman and Mallik Wilks converting for the Tigers.

Issuing his score prediction via his Sky Sports column, David Prutton believes that the Blues will edge this contest 1-0.

The verdict

Birmingham have shown glimpses of promise this season, with their January additions proving to improve the performances somewhat at St Andrew’s, and they will now be using the rest of the season to give themselves a platform to build on.

Hull also find themselves in a similar position, in what will be their second season back in the Championship, and with ambition growing as a result of the recent takeover, the 2022/23 campaign could turn out to be an important one for the Tigers.

With Arveladze still settling into his relatively new role, he will be eager to climb the Championship table and secure a strong finish.

However, Birmingham have some real quality in attacking positions now and should be able to take all three points.
