David de Gea returns to training pitch ahead of new move after leaving Manchester United

David de Gea is back at work as he looks to find a new club.

The goalkeeper left Manchester United after 12 years as No.1 earlier this month after his contract expired and an agreement could not be reached over a new deal. De Gea is now a free agent and is plotting his next move.

In order to keep sharp ahead of signing for a new club, the 32-year-old has been training in his native Spain. De Gea posted a photograph on his Instagram story alongside coach Luis Maria Garcia on a football pitch at the Santander Golf and Sports centre. It was accompanied by the words 'work hard.'

De Gea has plenty of options for his next move and has been heavily linked with following many Premier League stars to Saudi Arabia, signing with an MLS club and a return to Spain with Sevilla or Valencia. Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain have been touted as well.

At one stage it looked as though De Gea would be staying at Old Trafford and the shot-stopper was certainly of the opinion he'd be staying in the city that he considered his 'home.' However, a series of high-profile and costly mistakes in the crucial season run-in may have altered those plans.

As well as those mistakes, De Gea's struggles with the ball at his feet made him ill-suited to Erik ten Hag's team and steps have been taken to rectify that with his replacement. United are closing in on the signing of Andre Onana.

MEN Sport understands a 55m euro (£47.2m)deal has been agreed with Inter for the 27-year-old. The timing and location of his medical is not yet confirmed but the club are aiming for him to join the squad on their tour of the United States as soon as possible.
