Dave Cormack fears gap to Celtic and Rangers could DOUBLE as he slams 'sleepwalking' towards ESL Trojan Horse

Aberdeen chairman Dave Cormack revealed the Dons are already working with clubs of a similar stature about life after the formation of a European Super League following a bombshell EU court ruling that FIFA and UEFA unlawfully blocked the previous ESL proposal - insisting the huge gap to the Old Firm and the rest of the Premiership could DOUBLE.

Cormack became the first Scottish football voice to speak out after the news that has rocked the global game as he took to social media to say the “ruling will most likely change European football forever”. The ESL could usurp UEFA club competitions and the Pittodrie supremo admitted his club have been preparing for this eventuality. Bernd Reichart, the main man behind the revamped European Super League proposal has already offered Celtic a tempting prospect that could see them included in the controversial tournament. He namechecked the Scottish Premiership champions ahead of a court ruling which looks set to revive the tournament just two years after it collapsed. The fresh vision for the tournament could see the likes of the Hoops, Rangers and teams outside of Europe's big five leagues get an invite with an 80-team format currently floated.

But Cormack is concerned about those left out of the elite group and wrote on X: “This ruling will most likely change European football forever. Replacing the 3 current European cup competitions will be approx. 60 clubs forming 3 leagues based on ranking and being guaranteed a minimum 14 European club games each season… with the only opportunity for clubs ranked 61+ being to go through qualification rounds to the enter the third league only, where there will be relegation.
