Every SPFL player at AFCON and Asian Cup as 6 Celtic and Rangers stars joined by Hearts and Hibs call ups

Last year it was the World Cup that saw players jet off for a tournament mid campaign.

This season, SPFL clubs have been hit with a double whammy with the African Cup of Nations and the Asian Cup both taking place in January. Given the recent transfer habits of Premiership clubs, that's already caused some disruption with players heading off to join up with the national squads before the top flight action takes a break.

And how they fare with their respective countries will determine how much longer stars are missing for. The Scottish Cup gets underway for the big boys in a little under three weeks' time. Neither tournament ends until the weekend of 10/11 February, meaning Scottish clubs could face being without their stars iuntil at least then should the relevant nations go deep. New faces in the transfer window cold help plug the gaps, but this is an eventually each boss affected should have planned for in advance.

Record Sport looks at every player who is taking part in both.
