Danilho Doekhi Rangers transfer twist as Vitesse tipped for last ditch contract effort

In-demand Danihlo Doekhi could remain at Vitesse as the Eredivise side look for a quick-fire technical director appointment.

Rangers are interested in a pre-contract move for the centre-back after he entered the final six months of his contract.

The Vitesse defender has been tracked by a number of clubs across Europe with several Serie A side also tipped with a swoop for the 23-year-old.

But the Dutch side are reportedly redoubling their efforts to keep the core of their squad beyond the end of the campaign.

De Gelderlander report that the club are ramping up their bid to land a technical director on a short-term contract to sign up some of their key players.

Johannes Spors left the club earlier this season with Doekhi among a host of players free to leave the club at the end of the campaign.

They report adds "the new director will be given the means to invest" in contracts and in transfers amid fears over a mass exodus from the club.

John Souttar has already agreed a pre-contract move to the club in the summer from Hearts, and late bids to land the Scotland cap in January were knocked back on deadline day.

Gio van Bronckhorst and sporting director Ross Wilson look to be preparing for life after Connor Goldson, who is out of contract in the summer.
