Coronation Street's Jude Riordan makes 'bold' claim as he shares cobbles family connection in update

Coronation Street star Jude Riordan has revealed he's back working with his dad on the cobbles - and he made a 'bold' claim. The young actor, who plays Sam Blakeman in the ITV soap, has hinted he's had a busy time on the set this past week but was joined by a familiar face.

It's not the first time the actor has shared that his dad, Paul Riordan, also works in the TV world. Fans were previously surprised to discover that Jude's dad was known for his work behind the scenes on many much-loved shows. Paul has forged a successful career in show business as a television director.

He broke through in a behind-the-scenes role in Hollyoaks before he went on to earn directing credits for popular soaps such as Emmerdale and Casualty. And in the past couple of years he's been seen working with his son on-and-off in Weatherfield.

On Thursday a snap was shared on Jude's Instagram account, which is monitored by his parents, that showed the 12-year-old on the Salford-based set the Corrie actor with dad Paul and the pair were beaming as they posed for the photo on the iconic cobbles.

Alongside the picture, which appeared to be taken by Audrey Roberts' salon with Preston's Petals in the background, Jude said: "Another blockbuster with the Father @paulrio27 a busy couple of days! More bold choices. Back with him next week @coronationstreet".

Former Hollyoaks star Gemma Merna, who recently confirmed she will be joining Corrie as new character Rebecca for a guest stint, was among those responding to the post, writing: "Amazing @paulrio27 best director there is for actors, so grateful
