Coronation Street's Claire Sweeney reveals two-word motto ahead of Dancing On Ice debut

Soap actress Claire Sweeney has revealed her personal two-word motto ahead of her Dancing On Ice debut tonight (Sunday January 21). A new season of the popular ITV show began last week (Sunday January 14), with Stephen Mulhern and Holly Willoughby at the helm.

The first batch of celebrities to don their skates were Love Island’s Amber Davies, S Club 7’s Hannah Spearritt, boxer Ricky Hatton, Emmerdale actress Roxy Shahidi, Olympian Greg Rutherford and Coronation Street's Ryan Thomas.

Claire, who joined the Corrie cast last year as Tyrone Dobbs' mum Cassie Plummer, will be making her Dancing on Ice debut with professional skater Colin Grafton. The pair will perform to Bonnie Tyler's I Need A Hero.

Also taking to the ice this week is radio DJ Adele Roberts, ski jumper Eddie ‘the Eagle' Edwards, comedian Lou Sanders, Made in Chelsea’s Miles Nazaire and EastEnders star Ricky Norwood.

Claire, 52, took to Instagram earlier this morning to update fans on how she was feeling. Recording from her bed, the actress said she felt well rested after a good night's sleep. She started off by saying: "So this is it, this is the big day! How do I feel?"

She then said she'd used a sleep app recommended by the show's physiotherapist to help her nod off. Claire continued: "I slept really well and I just remember pressing play last night and waking up this morning so rested. It was so good.! I just feel rested and I've just got to do it now, you know."

"It's that excitement!," she cheered, before adding: "I can't get too excited or I'll fall over." She then revealed her two-word motto, saying: "So, I've got to remain calm. I keep saying this to myself, remain calm."
