Coronation Street heartbreak as Paul Foreman dies amid race to say goodbye

Coronation Street fans will finally see the moment they have been dreading for more than a year as Paul Foreman tragically dies in upcoming scenes.

Peter Ash has been consistently heaped with praise for his portrayal of Paul in the ITV soap ever since he was entrusted with the show's powerful Motor Neurone Disease storyline.

Former builder Paul was told of the life-shortening disease, in which messages from the motor neurones gradually stop reaching the muscles, in April 2023 with there currently being no cure.

The late rugby legend Rob Burrow was among those to have backed the storyline, with the Leeds Rhinos star having visited the Coronation Street set last year alongside his wife, Lindsey.

Since Paul's diagnosis 17 months ago, Corrie viewers have been watching the storyline unfold, often with tears in their eyes, as Paul's condition gradually deteriorated. There were difficult scenes Paul's husband Billy Mayhew discovered that Paul had been secretly planning to take matters into his own hands and decide when his life would come to an end as his symptoms caused by the life-limiting disease progress.

There has since been a special episode of Corrie in which Billy organised a day with Paul and enjoyed his last day of freedom before being confined to their flat due to it being unsafe to use the stairlift.

Paul and Billy visited the church where they married before David Platt gave him a taste he had been missing as he turned a beer into bubbles in the Rovers as some of his friends gathered together. He was also keen to spend time with his family,
