Coronation Street star Antony Cotton says 'I have accepted' in proud personal update

Coronation Street star Antony Cotton has shared his pride at earning a new role away from the cobbles. The actor is best know for playing Sean Tully on the ITV soap.

However, away from Weatherfield, Antony is probably best known for his work with and support of the Armed Forces. He has been involved with the military community since 2008 and was named as the first celebrity ambassador for military charity the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA).

He is also a patron of Help For Heroes and was made the SSAFA’s 2022 ambassador for the defence inclusivity category. Antony's official association with the charities began following the return of a close friend from Afghanistan, who needed support.

Bury-born Antony, who has played the role of barman and Underworld machinist Sean in Corrie since 2003, was also made an MBE in the late Queen’s Birthday Honours 2022 for services to British Army personnel and veterans.

Now, Antony has revealed he's accepted another role. Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, the soap star confirmed: "It is with huge pride that I have accepted the position to be President of the St James Royal British Legion @PoppyLegion."

He added: "I look forward to both the changes we can make, and the challenges the role will bring. Working for our Armed Forces is my greatest honour."

And his fans and followers were quick to show their support. @Comd_SM said: "Great news Antony." @JanetEBaldwin commented: "Congratulations Antony." @bobwarans wrote: "Wonderful Antony. Very proud." @BishopPaulMK replied: "Many congratulations,
