Coronation Street fans think they have spotted that history will repeat itself from ANOTHER soap as spoilers reveal the aftermath of Stephen Reid being exposed. While it doesn't seem like his murders will be uncovered, his plan to bump off wife-to-be Elaine Metcalfe, will.

During Monday night's trip to the cobbles (July 17), Elaine was left mortified when Audrey Roberts tries to talk to her about her supposed depression. While she insisted she was fine, she did confide in Audrey that she’s having doubts about Stephen, telling her about the recent face-pulling incident.

But her future mother-in-law assures her that Stephen loves her very much. Meanwhile, at the factory, when Stephen hears how a potential buyer for Underworld is having a terrible time as his wife’s life insurance won’t pay out after she took her own life, Stephen’s quietly horrified to realise his own plans to kill Elaine and fake it as suicide are unravelling.

Despite his mother agreeing with him that she thinks Elaine is depressed, Stephen was seen screwing up the fake suicide note and hiding it. Meanwhile, back at home, Elaine told Stephen it’s clear he doesn’t love her and they should cancel the wedding leaving Stephen reeling.

But when he heard Mary Taylor chatting about Brian Packham's cousin Isabella needing some hiking boots so she doesn’t fall to her death in the Peak District, Stephen appeared to be given food for thought. Later, begging Elaine to give him another chance, he suggested a romantic break in the Peak District.

Whilst Elaine headed off to pack, Stephen checks over her life insurance before putting the documents back in his locked red box.
