Manchester bakery gets Barbie transformation with limited edition menu ahead of movie release

A bakery in the city centre is taking Barbie fever to a whole new level by unveiling two special treats inspired by the famous plastic doll alongside a dedicated selfie window for fans to live out their fantasies.

Loaf Mcr, situated on Oxford Street, is launching a new mini cake loaf and pink milkshake this week to coincide with the release of the new Barbie movie this weekend.

The mini loaf, priced at £4.50, is flavoured to taste just like a strawberry milkshake and also includes a kid’s toy ring because, well, life in plastic is fantastic. Both items will only be available for one week before disappearing off the menu for good.

To mark the launch of the special treats on Wednesday (July 19), the bakery will be hosting a pop-up featuring RuPaul’s Drag Race UK star Ellie Diamond. The drag queen, who appeared on season two of the hit BBC Three show, will be making a special appearance at the bakery on Wednesday afternoon at 3.30pm.

The bakery, which started life in May 2020 during the height of the pandemic, will also feature a special selfie window for people to pose with a life-sized version of Barbie in her iconic pink convertible car.

The artwork, created by Lobster House Studios, also features dreamy clouds, and a cleverly designed Mattel logo, which looks like a glorious sun, as people are encouraged to ‘take a Loafie’ with the fun design.

“This has been one of the most exciting collaborations with Lobster House Studios yet,” Aiden Ryan, the founder of Loaf Mcr, said. “Her inimitable talent has turned our window into a Barbie dreamland. Great thing about Barbie is that it’s for everyone, all ages, so come along and take a Loafie with
