Cibo Italian restaurant in Wilmslow closes - amid major expansion plans

Popular Italian restaurant Cibo has closed its original Wilmslow site temporarily - amid major expansion plans in the Cheshire town. Bosses announced the closure of its original celebhaunt venue this week, saying the restaurant is closed to diners until "early September".

Owners have taken over adjacent buildings to both the side and rear in Wilmslow town centre as they progress with major building works. They are in the midst of creating Cibo Gran Cafe in the former Holland and Barrett shop which fronts onto Grove Street.

Meanwhile the restaurant itself had plans approved earlier this year to expand into the adjacent unit to extend their popular all-weather terrace area on Green Lane. They are to extend across to the side of the current building and will fill in the current car parking space with their terrace extension.

There are currently hoardings up outside the adjacent building to Cibo on Green Lane in Wilmslow, next to the Grove Arcade. The independent Italian restaurant group also operates Cibo in Hale which is also a footballer and celebrity hotspot, and Sasso in Disley.

Announcing the closure on its instagram account this week, Cibo wrote: "Cibo Wilmslow will temporarily close starting 7th August. Fear not, we'll reopen in early September.

"In the meantime, feel free to reserve a spot at Cibo Hale or Sasso Disley. Thank you for your continued patronage.

"Cibo Wilmslow truly appreciates your support. We eagerly look forward to welcoming you back soon!"

Meanwhile the new Cibo Gran Caffe on Grove Street will offer a daytime menu of breakfast, brunch, lunch and afternoon teas. Although no date has yet been confirmed
