LIVE: Restaurant 'devastated' after blaze breaks out with fire crews and police on scene - latest updates

Fire crews and police officers are responding to a blaze at a restaurant in Chorlton.

The fire has broken out at the Jerk Junction restaurant on Manchester Road. Pictures and videos show multiple fire crews on the scene.

The front of the Caribbean restaurant appears to have been left charred and blackened from the fire. It has not yet been confirmed whether anyone has been left injured.

Police officers have closed off a stretch of Manchester Road, near where the road meets Seymour Grove, as emergency services respond.

In social media posts, Jerk Junction said they would be shut until further notice. "Devastated, closed until further notice due unforeseen circumstances," they added. "Hopefully be back sooner rather than later. Stay posted."

The Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service has been contacted for further information.

A Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said:

"Shortly after 10.30am on Wednesday 23 August firefighters were called out to a building fire on Manchester Road, Chorlton.

"Three fire engines from Moss Side, Stretford and Salford and an aerial ladder platform from Manchester Central quickly attended the scene where a fire had started in a restaurant and spread to above flats.

"Firefighters used four breathing apparatus, three hose reels, one short extension ladder, a hearth kit and a positive pressure ventilation fan to extinguish the fire.

"Crews were in attendance for approximately two hours."
