Four people were arrested and knives and hammers seized by police after a "vicious and premeditated" attack on a home on a Bury estate. Police were called to a disturbance on Kestrel Drive at 10.50pm last night and a man was taken to hospital with injuries to his back.

It is believed a group of men stormed the house on Kestrel Drive and attacked the occupants. Two groups of men were then seen fighting outside Hawk Close with various weapons. Three people were taken to hospital with injuries not currently believed to be life-threatening.

Three men, aged 23, 43 and 56, have been arrested on suspicion of assault. A man aged 29 was arrested on suspicion of violent disorder. Several weapons including a hammer and knives were seized.

Detective Inspector Andy Wright of GMP's Bury district said: “I would like to reassure the public that we believe this incident is an isolated and targeted incident and poses no wider risk to the local community.

“Last night’s attack was vicious and premeditated and I want to reassure the public we are working around the clock to piece together what happened, why and locate any outstanding offenders.

“I understand this incident will cause a number of concerns within the local area however, rest assured there will be extra patrol plans in place to provide a visible and reassuring policing presence in the community. If you do have any concerns, I urge you to speak to the officers who will be on hand to assist.
