Chris Sutton delivers latest Celtic title race verdict in the face of 'unwavering' belief from Rangers

Chris Sutton didn't need to, but the reminder to Celtic that second in Scotland's biggest city means nothing should sharpen Parkheads minds for the title run-in.

Factor in the "unwavering" belief Rangers players have in Philippe Clement's methods, and there's a clear favourite to lift the trophy in May as things stand. The Ibrox side make the trip down the M77 to take on Kilmarnock on Wednesday night, with Celtic hosting Dundee. On paper, this would seem a realistic chance for Celtic to perhaps reclaim top spot, or at least draw level with their rivals on points.

But the champions have been flakey this season while Rangers have morphed into a relentless juggernaut which blew in-form, third- place Hearts to bits at the weekend. And if anyone is droppings points this midweek, Sutton is far less sure of his former club given how late they left it against Motherwell on Sunday.

"Second is last in Glasgow, we all know that," Sutton told Sky Sports. "Rangers have been so, so good since Philippe Clement has come in and they have this unwavering belief in the way that they play.

"They're quite direct at times. But the players all understand their roles and responsibilities so, so well. They've got a tough game tonight away at Kilmarnock, who have shown that they can compete with Celtic and Rangers when they go head-to-head with them.

"Celtic are at home to Dundee and you're just not quite sure which Celtic team are going to rock up. They're playing in fits and starts as they have done all season. They've been inconsistent.

'At this moment in time, Rangers are favourites but of course, we've got two derby games to come which may have a big say on who eventually wins the title. Celtic got over the line at the weekend late on
