Chiefs coach wary of AmaZulu: 'We are going to have to dig deep, grind'

Kaizer Chiefs have endured a mixed start to the season as they currently sit ninth in the DStv Premiership standings having won three of eight league games.

With a crucial MTN8 semi-final clash against AmaZulu on the horizon, it gives them an opportunity to put their poor league form behind them and a chance to end their seven-year trophy drought.  

The Cup semi-final will be the second game between the two sides this season, with the first game in the league ending in a 0-0 draw where Chiefs missed a penalty courtesy of Dillan Solomons.

Chief coach Arthur Zwane, however, expects the upcoming Cup game to be much different.  

"We want to win the game and it's not going to be an easy one. Cup games are different to league games and I think the first game we played against them (AmaZulu) you could see they were satisfied with a draw," said Zwane.  

"This one they (AmaZulu) are going to have to come out guns blazing as well to make sure they get a goal".  

After Chiefs played Royal AM in the Macufe Cup last week, it gave them fresh injury concerns resulting in Zwane not having the luxury of having a full squad. 

"We've got a few knocks, Sabelo Radebe, Happy (Mashiane) did not train, and Khama Billiat are all doubtful," he said.  

With such a crucial game immediately after the international break, Zwane is not using it as an excuse for the game, highlighting that it can have both a negative or positive impact on the squad.  

"It's part of the game, the impact can be negative or positive and at the end of the day we are going to have to come up with a plan." 

AmaZulu come into the semi-final in poor form, suffering defeats in their last two league games.

However, despite this, Zwane is wary and will not take anything for granted.
