Zwane plays down Kaizer Chiefs' recent hot streak: 'We still have a long way to go'

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane is showing no signs of getting carried away, despite his side winning their last three league games.  

Chiefs will host Chippa United at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday in the DStv Premiership.

Zwane is wary of getting carried away with their recent up-turn in form and insists they "still have a long way to go".

"There are still 19 games to play, we are still building the team and we're still trying to get the conventions right," Zwane told reporters.

"It looks promising that we are creating enough goal scoring opportunities. We're getting there steady but surely. There's a lot of improvement in the squad and team overall."   

In the earlier parts of the season, the 49-year-old was under pressure from the Amakhosi faithful as performances were not up to standard. They suffered heavy defeats such as the 4-0 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns. 

Zwane adds he does not believe any formation has been the reason for the resurgence in form, but rather the personnel within the squad as some of the players are in sync with his instructions. 

"I think the strategy is more or less the same, just a change of personnel, there are those that will grasp the tactics quicker and there are those that will take some time in terms of responding." 

Zwane confirmed that captain Itumeleng Khune will miss the upcoming game, having picked up an injury in the first half against Stellenbosch FC while Khama Billiat and Happy Mashiane are touch and go.  

"Khama we will monitor today; we will see if he is ready to play. Itu (Khune) will not be available to play this week. Hopefully going forward, he will get much better and Happy has been battling a little bit but he started training two days ago so we are also managing
