Chido Obi sends Ruben Amorim public message after two-minute Man United debut
Teenage forward Chido Obi admitted making his Manchester United debut in Sunday's 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur was a "dream come true".
The 17-year-old Dane was one of several uncapped players named on the bench for Sunday's defeat in North London as manager Ruben Amorim was missing many first-team stars, including Kobbie Mainoo and Amad.
But despite United sinking to a 12th defeat of the Premier League season as they failed to strike back from James Maddison's opener at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Obi , who made the move to Old Trafford last summer, was subbed on by Amorim for the final seconds of the game.
Writing on Instagram after the game, Obi said:" Disappointed with the loss. On a personal note, thanks to the gaffer & the club for making a dream come true for me and my family."
Obi has been in sensational form for United's under-18s since joining the club from Arsenal last summer, with last week's FA Youth Cup hat-trick against Chelsea taking his tally for the season 12.
The Denmark youth international made his Premier League 2 debut for United at the end of January before earning his first goal contribution in the competition a week later as he assisted Malachi Sharpe for the opener in a 2-0 win over Tottenham.
After the defeat in North London, Amroim hinted that Obi could be set for more first-team opportunities as he revealed that he doesn't see summer signing Joshua Zirkzee as an out-and-out number nine.
"I think Josh [Zirkzee] is not a clear nine," said Amorim. "He played more as a ten, he is stronger physically, he's thinner, so he is working really hard, and he plays in a better position for him.
"He's improving, he's winning more duels, and he's even faster; you feel it in the game."
