Chelsea: Tuchel 'keen' to sign 'world-class' £30m star at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is keen on Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha, claims journalist Simon Phillips.

The 29-year-old is one attacker the west London club are currently thought to be considering, and Phillips says he is a player who Tuchel likes.

According to 90min, Chelsea are weighing up making a move for Zaha before the transfer window closes.

The Ivorian has entered the final 12 months of his contract so may not cost too much money, with Phillips telling GIVEMESPORT that Palace are likely to ask for £30m at most for him.

Zaha was in brilliant form for Patrick Vieira’s side last season, scoring 14 goals in 33 Premier League appearances.

He is not a player Palace will want to lose, especially this late in the window, but given his contract situation, it would not be a surprise if they considered offers for their talisman this summer.

While there have been no major developments yet, Phillips says Zaha is someone who could arrive at Stamford Bridge before September’s transfer deadline.

Speaking to GMS, the journalist said: “They [some at Chelsea] put the name to Tuchel and Tuchel was keen on him – he likes the player.

“Nothing has developed there, but he’s definitely an option that could come in towards these last couple of weeks in the window, and I’ve been told that a fee will probably be around 25 to 30 million if we were to do business there.”

This summer has seen a shift in Chelsea’s transfer strategy. Having signed the likes of Saul Niguez, Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and Hakim Ziyech from abroad in recent windows, the Blues are now bringing in footballers with Premier League experience, recently adding Marc Cucurella and Raheem Sterling to their squad.
