Everton 'still in' for 'world-class' 15-cap star at Goodison Park

Everton are just one Premier League club who are circling around Chelsea midfielder Billy Gilmour, according to journalist Simon Phillips.

Brighton look to be the side who are at the front of the queue for the 21-year-old, but Phillips says Everton also remain in the equation for his signature.

Yesterday, The Telegraph claimed that Gilmour was closing in on a permanent move to Brighton.

However, since then, other reports have emerged suggesting that Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly does not want the Scottish youngster to be sold.

Brighton, of course, have already brought in central defender Levi Colwill from Chelsea on loan, meaning that they cannot do another temporary deal with the west London club.

The above could open up a pathway for Everton to strike their own loan deal for Gilmour if Frank Lampard is keen to bring him to Goodison Park.

Phillips has told GIVEMESPORT that Brighton remain in talks with Chelsea but Gilmour does have other options like Everton.

Speaking to GMS, the journalist said: “They are talking to Brighton about a permanent deal, but I think if they did do that, it would have to be sort of a happy medium where they get a buy-back clause into the deal.

“But he’s got a lot of clubs interested in him. Everton have been there the whole time. [Crystal] Palace and Southampton are both teams that have enquired before, so he’s got other options, and I do expect his future to be decided today either way.”

Everton or another club landing Gilmour certainly still seems possible.

Despite Chelsea having problems in midfield right now, with N’Golo Kante currently out injured, Thomas Tuchel has continued to overlook the 15-cap Scotland international.
