Southampton: £15m star ‘needs future cleared up’ at St. Mary’s

Southampton striker Che Adams needs his ongoing ‘situation cleared up’ as soon as possible, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The 26-year-old appears to have fallen down the pecking order at St. Mary’s at the start of the current campaign and has been tipped to seek pastures new before the window slams shut on September 1.

Adams was an unused substitute in Southampton’s opening Premier League game of the season against Tottenham Hotspur, leading to speculation over his immediate future.

The Athletic disclosed after the Saints fell to a 4-1 opening-day defeat that Ralph Hasenhuttl is prepared to sanction the Scotland international’s sale, opening the door to his potentially imminent exit.

At the end of last month, The Sun reported that Leeds United were lining up a ‘surprise move’ for Adams as they continue to search for some cover and competition for Patrick Bamford upfront.

It was claimed that Jesse Marsch’s charges were hopeful of concluding a deal for around £10 million for Adams, although Southampton were expected to demand a slightly higher fee.

And Football Insider have provided an update on the technically gifted forward’s situation, revealing that newly-promoted Nottingham Forest have now entered the race for his signature.

In an interview with GiveMeSport, Jones said: “It doesn’t seem like an easy one to do, anyway. I think that it’s natural that this one’s going to play out a bit longer.

“Typically, transfers between two Premier League clubs do take a bit longer for some reason at the moment, mainly because the clubs always want a bit more value than they seem to be offered in the first place.

“But Che Adams obviously needs this situation cleared up because it’s not looking good for him at the moment.”
