Chatham Town Women play at home to Queens Park Rangers this Sunday a week after beating Cambridge United at their Bauvill Stadium

Chatham Town Women could come up against their former goalkeeper Simone Eligon when QPR visit The Bauvill Stadium this Sunday.

Trinidad & Tobago international Eligon left Chats this summer in the hope of playing at a higher level, eventually making the switch to QPR.

She finds herself back in the fourth tier with her new club, QPR, who head to Chatham this weekend.

Rangers sit third in the Division 1 South East table, while unbeaten Chatham are fourth after two wins and two draws from their opening four league games.

Chats boss Keith Boanas admits Eligon’s departure left a “sour taste” but expects her to receive a warm welcome on her return.

He said: “I'd class this as our biggest game of the season at the moment with potentially a former goalkeeper, which is a weird one for me because of the way it happened.

“It left a little bit of a sour taste the way it happened but she's a nice enough person. I'm sure the girls will give her a good welcome and we'll all be professional about it.

“There's loads of players in the women's game and at all levels that have really good friends in other teams. That becomes apparent every week, you see it.

“However nice they are before or after, the key is that when you're on the pitch during the game, they're not your friends. You don't have friends in the [opposition] team or on their staff during the game.

“Before and after, it's about respect and about other things, but during the game, they are what they are.”
