Chatham Town face Eastbourne Borough away in the Isthmian Premier Division tonight after a thrilling 3-2 comeback home win over Lewes

Chatham Town will hope Saturday’s stunning comeback win at the Bauvill can provide the springboard for another three points tonight.

Kevin Hake’s side looked in trouble at half-time against Lewes after conceding twice in two minutes – but produced a remarkable second-half turnaround to win 3-2.

They are back in Isthmian Premier Division action tonight away against Eastbourne Borough.

On Saturday, Alex Giles halved the deficit within two minutes of the restart before substitutes Ben Allen and Harry Lodovica completed the comeback.

Allen levelled with 10 minutes to go before Lodovica sent the Bauvill Stadium wild with a curling finish from the edge of the box moments later.

Hake said: “It was a fantastic game of football and obviously we’re delighted to come away with the three points.

“At 2–0 down at half-time we had a mountain to climb, but the response from the players was outstanding.

“What really pleased me was the team spirit and belief they showed.

“We’ve spoken a lot about the character within this group and we’re starting to see that come through when it really matters.

“To come from two goals behind and win 3–2 against a very good Lewes side says a lot about the players in that dressing room.

“It was also a really entertaining game and I think that’s important. Football is ultimately an entertainment business and our supporters give us incredible backing, so we want people leaving the Bauvill having enjoyed watching their team.

“Five goals and a comeback like that certainly gave everyone plenty of entertainment on Saturday.

“We certainly don’t want to make a habit of going 2–0 behind, but there’s a real togetherness developing within this group.
