Celtic only ahead of Rangers for one reason as Hotline regular goes on the batter with rival

It was routine wins for Celtic and Rangers on Scottish Cup weekend but there's no love in the air for referees on your Valentine's Day Hotline.

Willie Collum got it from THREE angles as from the green corner, James McClean, Rothesay, said: "Willie Collum certainly tried to appease the Rangers supporters at the weekend after his mistakes in the Old Firm game. He had another howler against Ayr United, he is certainly in the good books at Ibrox again. His first Rangers game should have been an away tie, not at Ibrox. My question is why is he still refereeing at all."

But Ralph Hamilton retorted: "The usual green tinted glasses wearing mob jumping on troublemaker Scott Brown's comments, but watching the game, the Ayr player Dowds had a dozen bad fouls, should've been sent off first half. Not two slightly mistimed tackles that barely touched the opposition."

The Ayr fans weren't happy either as Johnny Colville said: "Just a note on the Goldson 'assault' on our player Syla, shocking and deserved a red, but hey-ho it’s against the Old Firm! Can you imagine the furore coming out of Ibrox had that been the other way about? He should never referee again and all the usual rubbish they spout. Also had that been on Cantwell or Silva, they would still have been rolling about this week!"

Philippe Clement believes Rangers would be right up there in Ligue 1 and as ever, that's sparked some opinions and hot takes. Steve MacLeod, Wokingham, said: "So big Phil says the Old Firm could compete in Ligue 1. Rangers could for sure but Celtic would struggle unless they could bring their own home grown referees, plentiful penalties and red card amnesty.
