Simon Jordan reveals 'irritating' Celtic figurehead has him rooting for Rangers to win the title

Simon Jordan admits he’s rooting for Rangers in the Scottish Premiership title race because Brendan Rodgers "irritates" him.

Philippe Clement ’s side are two points clear at the top after both they and rivals Celtic were beaten at the weekend - the first time that’s happened in six years. Motherwell inflicted a first home defeat of Clement’s reign by winning 2-1 at Ibrox on Saturday. That handed the Hoops an opportunity to reclaim top spot, but they fell flat at Tynecastle as the ten-man champions went down 2-0 to Hearts.

The fallout from that defeat could land Rodgers in hot water after he questioned the competence of the officials, VAR John Beaton in particular. The visitors were reduced to 10 men after just 16 minutes, when Yang’s yellow for catching Alex Cochrane with a high boot was upgraded to a red following a VAR check. The Jambos were then awarded a controversial spot kick when Tomoki Iwata was adjudged it handled in the area, despite having his back turned to the ball, which landed on his arm.

The race for the top flight crown is set to go to the wire, but Jordan has revealed he’s backing Rangers to lift the trophy, mainly down to not liking the way Rodgers has conducted himself

“I’m rooting for Rangers in Scotland,” said the talkSport co-host. “Brendan irritates me. Some of his behaviour at Leicester irritated me.”

It’s not the first time Jordan has taken aim at Rodgers. He couldn't understand why the Irishman was considering a return to Parkhead in the summer before his appointment was confirmed. He said: "If he goes back to Celtic I'm not sure what that says about where his career is going, with due respect to Celtic. But they will get a capable manager.
