Celtic dressing room LOVE Daniel Kelly as teenage prodigy earns astonishing thumbs up from man who matters most

Beaming Callum McGregor paid a glowing Celtic tribute to breakthrough star Daniel Kelly after his all-action 45-minute cameo in the 7-1 trouncing of Dundee.

The academy standout scored a stunner in the second after replacing the captain and did so with his weaker right foot. The 18-year-old has been a revelation at academy level and is regarded by those in the know at Celtic Park as a strong bet to make the grade with the first team as they battle for Premiership title glory.

And that is a sentiment which is shared by McGregor who made clear how both he and his team-mates think about Kelly's soaring potential. Speaking to Celtic TV, the skipper said: "Brilliant, over the time I have been here we keep trying to add the young players from getting them into the first team from the academy. This guy has been outstanding.

"He has personality, brilliant quality, great kid, wants to learn, work as hard as they can. all these attributes. It's so important if you want to have a career here. The group really love him and the way that he plays and the way that he trains. So we just need more of that from him."

Kelly said: "It was brilliant, when the chance came I was just buzzing. I had quite a few of my family in the crowd tonight, my friends as well. It was brilliant.

Boss Brendan Rodgers was also delighted. He said: "One of our young guys, Daniel, gets his first ever goal for the club. I am envious of him as a Celtic supporter. He has been here since eight years of age and that's all that hard work. It was a great finish by him."
