Casemiro reacts to making his Manchester United debut vs Southampton

New signing Casemiro shared a short message on social media after making his Manchester United debut in Saturday's 1-0 win over Southampton at St Mary's.

The Brazilian, who finalised his move to Old Trafford from Spanish giants Real Madrid last Monday, stepped off the bench with just ten minutes left on the clock, replacing Anthony Elanga. Manager Erik ten Hag opted to name the same team that started Monday's win over Liverpool, meaning the five-time Champions League winner was forced to wait a little longer than he would have liked to sample the taste of Premier League football for the very first time.

Although his first outing in United colours came via the bench and, including stoppage time, lasted a little over quarter of an hour, he offered a flavour of what he will bring to the table. He showed signs of terrific leadership, as well as producing a brilliant block to thwart a goal-bound effort.

That resulted in the supporters behind the goal United were defending singing his name before the full-time whistle had even been reached. Having made a positive first impression on his first outing in United colours, the 30-year-old shared a short message on his Twitter account reflecting on his first Premier League outing. He said: "Debut and victory!!," accompanied by a fist emoji.

It was the perfect start for Casemiro and he will be hoping to do enough to impress Ten Hag over the next few days in training to bag himself a first start for the club when United travel to Leicester on Thursday night.
