Bruno Fernandes pinpoints moment that changed Manchester United's season

Bruno Fernandes said that Manchester United's humiliating loss to Brentford was the catalyst for change at the club.

The Reds, who were bottom of the Premier League table after their 4-0 humbling at the hands of the Bees at the Gtech Community Stadium just over three weeks ago, registered a fourth successive win for the first time since April last year on Sunday afternoon, beating Arsenal 3-1 at Old Trafford.

After seeing Antony's debut goal cancelled out by Bukayo Saka's equaliser on the hour mark, United found the courage and mental strength to restore their advantage through Marcus Rashford's second goal of the campaign. The England international netted his second and United's third of the afternoon just nine minutes later to ensure the Reds maintained their winning run.

It has been a remarkable transformation for Erik ten Hag's team and Fernandes, who claimed the assist for Rashford's first goal of the game against the Gunners, believes their change in fortunes transpired from everyone being determined to turn things around while working on the Carrington training pitches.

"Something happened on the training ground straight away [after Brentford], you could feel it," Fernandes told Viaplay. "Everyone wanted to turn that situation around.

"It was not the best for us, we knew what we had to do and we are now getting points and rewards for it."

Although United, who will embark on their Europa League campaign when they face Real Sociedad on Thursday evening, have made significant improvements over the past fortnight, Fernandes insists they are refusing to rest on their laurels.
