Brendan Rodgers unloads over Celtic injustice as he tells John Beaton and referee YOU'VE COST US

Brendan Rodgers unleashed at John Beaton and VAR as he told the officials at Tynecastle: "You've cost us."

The first half in the capital was full of flashpoint moments with the first one a penalty awarded to Celtic after Alex Cochrane was judged to have fouled Yang. Adam Idah stepped up and watched on as Zander Clark saved his effort before the duo were involved in another key incident moments later with Yang handed his marching orders following a VAR review for a high boot on Cochrane. That left Rodgers 'really disappointed' but it was the Hearts penalty that got his blood boiling.

Tomoki Iwata was punished for handball after Don Robertson was once against sent to the screen for a second look. He decided to award the spot-kick with Rodgers branding it 'absolutely shocking'. The result leaves the title race with Rangers as it was before both teams played this weekend as Philippe Clement and his troops remain two points clear after a rare weekend that both halves of the Old Firm suffered domestic defeats.

Speaking to Sky Sports post-match, Rodgers raged: "Listen firstly I want to give credit to my players as they fought from the very first whistle. I never like to comment on officials. It is not something I do. I've been stood here long enough but that cost us today. The officiating. From on field to John Beaton in VAR - that was really, really poor.

"If you put the still on that [red card incident] it looks dangerous but that is not the reality of the move. There is no force there. The ball has popped up. Okay if it is a booking it is a booking. But that was really disappointing to go down to ten men with that.

"But to receive the penalty against us. Wow that was even worse. You watch the incident again, Tommo [Iwata]
