BREAKING: Road closures in place and drivers urged to avoid area as police respond to serious 'crash' - updates
Emergency services have descended on a road in Salford this evening after reports of a 'serious' collision. Motorists were being urged to avoid an area around Cromwell Road.
In posts on their Salford social media channels, Greater Manchester Police posted brief details of the incident.
The post read: "We are dealing with a serious road traffic collision in #Salford - there are road closures in place on Seaford Road, Cromwell Road and Lower Broughton Road while emergency services deal with the incident so drivers are advised to avoid the area."

Pictures from the scene show a stretch of road cordoned off by police, with several police cars stationed nearby and bollards dotted across the street.
People who said they saw the incident replied to the posts, expressing their shock. One said: "This happened right in front of me. It was horrible."
