BREAKING: East Lancs Road closed due to 'multi agency incident' - updates

The East Lancs Road is closed due to a 'multi agency incident'. Police and emergency services are at the scene close to the junction with the M6.

The westbound carriageway is currently shut. Drivers are being urged to use alternative routes if possible.

Merseyside Police Contact Centre posted on X: "Please be aware following a multi agency incident, the westbound carriageway on the A580 (East Lancashire Road is currently closed from Junction 23 (M6) this is expected to cause delays . If possible please find an alternative route."
