Bojan Miovski Aberdeen transfer exit addressed by Barry Robson as boss admits homesickness after St Mirren drama

Barry Robson admits Aberdeen are suffering from a bout of homesickness after their poor show at St Mirren.

The Dons boss conceded his side were second best as their search for a first Premiership win continues as they salvaged a point in Paisley. Robson revealed European exertions against Hacken last midweek played a part in a sub-par display and insisted his squad are suffering for living out of their suitcases.

He said: “First and foremost credit to St Mirren. I thought they were excellent. We looked a yard off it all over the pitch. But, when you can’t win it then you don’t lose it. I thought we hung in there and fought right until the end. The cohesion just wasn't there from the first minute. It was hard to go from the high of Hacken to playing the form team in Scotland. They had won their first six games this season and we have been on the road for a long time.

"None of us have seen our families but I think the fans helped us in the end and we needed that help. We needed to get something out of the game and thanks to them we did.

“We probably got a few VAR decisions as well. We are trying to deal with the league, Europe and getting players up to speed at the same time. We were not good enough but, my God, how we fought.

"Credit to the players who gave an unbelievable performance in Europe to come down and play the form team in Scotland and take a point. We have only played one game at Pittodrie since we last played St Mirren four months ago."

Robson paid tribute to a superb St Mirren display and admitted his players had to dig deep to take a point against by overcoming a psychological barrier. He said: "You could see a team in St Mirren who were fresh and prepared and we were trying to fight to stay in it.
