"Beggars' belief" - Journalist drops claim on fresh problem facing Antonio Conte at Tottenham

Tottenham’s inconsistent form at the moment is scarcely believable, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

Spurs are trying to push for a top four finish in the Premier League, but their inability to string results together has hurt them badly in recent weeks.

When Antonio Conte arrived at Tottenham, the side had an upturn in form as they went unbeaten in their first nine league games under him.

However, they then suffered three straight defeats against Chelsea, Southampton and Wolves to slip down the table.

They then bounced back by pulling off one of the results of the season as they beat Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium, but inexplicably followed that up by losing away at Burnley four days later.

It looked like the side had got back on track when they thrashed Leeds last weekend, only for the side to then get dumped out of the FA Cup by Middlesbrough on Tuesday.

O’Rourke believes Conte must be tearing his hair out at how up and down his team’s performances have been over the past month.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, O’Rourke said: “I think Conte’s finding out now just how hard this job is right now. They’re so hot and cold, Spurs. They go to Man City and win, then lose to Burnley a few days later. That just beggars’ belief when you think about it.”

Having been knocked out of the FA Cup, Tottenham are now almost certain to go a 14th successive season without a trophy.

However, they still have plenty to play for as they remain in the running for a Champions League spot.
