Sky Sports reporter drops big Tottenham claim on an "emotional" Antonio Conte

Tottenham manager Antonio Conte’s fiery interviews are down to the fact that he’s an emotional guy and isn’t used to being so low down in the league table, according to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge.

The Italian has said some harsh words in recent months, although he remained calm after the 2-1 loss at Manchester United on Saturday.

It didn’t take long for Conte start telling some home truths. Less than four weeks into his reign, he said “at this moment the level at Tottenham is not so high” following the embarrassing loss to Mura in the Europa Conference League.

Spurs wouldn’t suffer another defeat for some time, but when their next one arrived at Chelsea, he brutally spoke about the difference in level between his former and current side.

The defeats continued to come thick and fast, which saw Conte keep on coming up with strong words, with perhaps the most damning after the game at Burnley when he appeared to suggest that he might resign.

He said: “I am not used to this situation. I am trying everything, but the situation is not changing. I am available and open with the club to do what the club wants.

“I want to help the club, I work a lot, I work very hard. I am giving 20 hours a day to Tottenham and the other four hours I sleep but it is not enough.”

Despite many fearing that he would leave, ahead of the game with Manchester United on Saturday, Conte gave his strongest hint yet that he’ll still be Tottenham manager next season.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “We need to look at it as he’s an emotional guy and he’s not used to being eighth. He’s only used to being eighth on alphabetical order before a season starts, he’s used to winning league titles.”
