BBC Strictly Come Dancing's Chris McCausland supported by Dianne Buswell after 'broken' admission
Dianne Buswell has showed her support for Chris McCausland as he opened up about taking part in Strictly Come Dancing and life after the hit dance show.
Before last summer, the professional dancer and the comedian didn't know each other but changed when they were paired together for Strictly's 20th-anniversary series back in September. Another 13 weeks later and Chris, who was the show's first ever blind contestant, and Dianne were left in tears as they lifted the Glitterball trophy.
After their dancing journey came to an end, the emotional pair went their seperate ways but weeks after fans of the BBC One dance contest witnessed their triumphant win, comedian Chris and pro dancer Dianne confirmed they'd reunited for a new podcast, which they have titled after their Strictly team name, Winning Isn't Everything, which was based on Dianne's dad Mark's comments to his daughter when she discovered her partner for her eighth year on the show.
But away from their new joint project, Chris has shared a new interview in which he said he can understand why some people have "struggled" when competing on Strictly and, despite getting on with his dance partner, how a "clash" could happen when contestants and professional dancers have different objectives.
The comic, 47, also recalled that towards the end of the competition, he was doing 15-hour days which left him "broken". He shared with The Sunday Times magazine: "I mean, it was relentless. Physically I ached. I had lost weight. I’m probably fitter than I’ve been in ages but I was held together with tape at the end."
