Aston Villa: Gerrard could sign £26m star with 'huge potential' at Villa Park

Aston Villa would be signing a player with “huge potential” if they can tempt Moise Kean over to Villa Park, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

Steven Gerrard is looking to strengthen his strikeforce this summer, and Kean has emerged as a potential option for the Villans.

Kean is currently halfway through a loan spell at Juventus, and the Italian club have an obligation to buy him from Everton if certain conditions are met in 2023.

However, the forward had an underwhelming 2021/22 season, scoring just five league goals in 32 Serie A appearances, and it seems that his Juventus future is hanging in the balance.

As reported by Italian journalist Marcello Chirico, Villa have registered an interest in signing Kean, and are willing to offer midfielder Douglas Luiz as part of the deal.

O’Rourke thinks Kean has plenty of talent, but he has questioned the 22-year-old’s consistency, and he is not convinced that the youngster will end up at Villa.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, O’Rourke said: “It’s an interesting link this one. Moise Kean, obviously has huge potential. He’s played for some top clubs, but just haven’t seen enough of what he can do on a regular basis. I’d find this a strange signing, for me. I’m not sure if Villa would pursue a move for Moise Kean.”

Kean burst onto the scene by scoring six goals in 13 league appearances at the back end of the 2018/19 season at Juventus.

This earned him a move to Everton, but he then went on to have a disastrous maiden campaign at Goodison Park, netting just twice all season.

A loan switch to PSG followed, and he managed to score 13 goals in 26 Ligue 1 games to prove that his first spell at Juventus was not a fluke.
